Kingwood

One oak, and a drive that curves around it

A mature oak standing in the middle of a circular drive, uplit so the trunk and canopy become the first thing you see, with the elevation behind it kept a step lower.

What the photograph shows

When a property has one specimen tree in front of the house, the design usually decides itself: the tree is the subject and the house is the backdrop.

Holding the elevation slightly darker than the canopy is what makes that work. Light both at the same level and the two flatten into one bright wall.

  • Uplighting into the canopy from several angles
  • Facade uplighting held below the tree level
  • Drive and turning circle read from the road
  • Planting beds lit as the middle layer

Your property, after dark

Every project here started the same way: a walk of the site and a conversation about what the owner wanted to see at night.
