Privacy policy

What we collect through this site, why, and what we do with it. In short: we use what you send to talk to you about your property, and we do not sell it to anyone.

What this page covers

This policy applies to www.houstonlightscapes.com and explains what personal information we collect through the site, why we collect it and what we do with it.

By using the site you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

What we collect

What you send us. The site has two forms — the consultation request and the contact form. Between them they ask for your name, phone number, email address, the property address or ZIP code, the type of work you are asking about and whatever you choose to write about the property. Only the fields marked with an asterisk are required.

What the server records. Like any website, ours keeps ordinary access logs: IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested and the time of the request. These are used to keep the site working and secure.

What we do not ask for. The site never asks for payment card details, bank details, social security numbers or any government identification. If a page ever appears to, it is not ours — close it and call us.

What we use it for

Information you send through a form is used to talk to you about your property and the work you are asking about: calling you back, arranging a consultation, quoting, scheduling and servicing the system afterwards.

  • Responding to your enquiry
  • Arranging and carrying out a consultation or service visit
  • Quoting, scheduling and completing work
  • Keeping records of work done on a property, so a future service call starts from what is already there
  • Keeping the site running, secure and free of abuse

What we do not do with it

We do not sell your information, and we do not pass it to third-party sites. That has been our position since the first version of this site and it has not changed.

We share information only where the work requires it — for example with a member of our own team attending the property — or where the law requires it.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Third-party content on this site

Google Maps. The contact page embeds a map showing our office. Loading that map is a request to Google, and Google may set cookies and record that request under their own privacy policy. The map loads only when you scroll to it.

Review platforms and social profiles. Links to Houzz, Facebook and Yelp take you to those companies’ sites, where their privacy policies apply, not ours.

Analytics and advertising. This site does not run analytics, advertising or tracking pixels. If that changes, this page will be updated before any of it starts collecting.

Cookies

The site itself does not set cookies to track you across the web. The Google Maps embed described above may set its own. Your browser can block or delete cookies at any time; nothing on this site stops working if you do.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become projects are kept while they are still useful to follow up, then deleted. Records of completed work are kept for as long as we might reasonably be asked to service that system — outdoor lighting is maintained for years, and knowing what was installed matters when something needs repair a decade later.

Your choices

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Texas residents have these rights under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act; we apply the same approach to everyone who contacts us, wherever they live.

To make a request, call 713-461-3600 or email info@houstonlightscapes.com. We may need to confirm who you are before acting on it.

Children

The site is aimed at property owners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information you send us. No website or email system is perfectly secure, so please do not send sensitive personal information — identification numbers, financial details — through the forms or by email. We will never ask you to.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version appears on this page with a new date at the top. Material changes will be made before the practice they describe begins, not afterwards.

Still want to talk about the property?

The phone works without a form, and nothing about that call is recorded anywhere except in the notes we make about the work.
