An established Galleria-area neighbourhood of roughly 1,220 lots, developed from 1949 and heavily planted since — where original ranch houses now sit beside much larger custom builds.
The properties
Two houses on the same street, two different problems
One property has mature oaks and traditional architecture. The next is a new custom home with tall walls, clean lines and fresh planting. The same lighting package would flatter neither.

So we design around what is actually there. On the older properties the trees usually lead and the house supports them; on the new builds it is the other way round, and the planting needs time to catch up with the architecture.

The canopy is the neighbourhood's asset
Uplighting reveals the trunks and branch structure; moonlighting from high in a mature tree lays soft, moving light across the lawn and the drive below. On a wide Tanglewood lot the two together are what stop the property from ending at the edge of the patio.
